Dan Benjamin, Principal of Sundance Contracting, on a job site with plans

Meet Dan

Dan Benjamin, Principal.

Dan leads both Sundance divisions. The work he knows best: homes from the 1920s in Florida, and even older ones in Washington, DC. Clients know him for clear communication and fair, honest estimates.

I've worked with a number of different contractors in the Washington, D.C. area and Dan is the very best, hands down. Not just in terms of the quality of his work, but also in how easy he is to work with. I trust him to point out issues and make fair estimates of the cost for necessary work.

We have been very happy with how the project was executed, have appreciated the "extras", such as housecleaning, that you include in your practice, and love the final result.

Questions

Do you take small jobs?

Yes. Sundance does everything from basic service calls and repairs to full gut renovations. Handyman work is usually billed by the hour, and some jobs can be done at a flat rate.

Can Dan look at a house before I buy it?

Yes. Dan does paid pre-purchase consultations. He walks the house with you and tells you what the work would really take.

What is a pre-construction consultation?

A paid meeting with Dan before you commit. He helps you see if your idea is doable, what it takes and how to plan it, so the job goes smoother and faster.

Do I need an architect?

Sundance is a design-build contractor. The team does construction drawings, 3D renderings, kitchen and bath design and material sourcing, then builds it.

How do your quotes work?

Quotes are laid out line by line, so you can see what each part of the job covers before you decide.

Where do you work?

Capitol Hill and Washington, DC since 2005, and Southwest Florida from the Sarasota office since 2010.
